Kaiapoi Borough School was the first school in Kaiapoi, established in 1873. We have a long history of providing great learning opportunities for students in year 0 to year 8. Our proximity to the river is unique and our grounds are extensive with some stunning mature trees.

We are a community focussed school, working hard to partner with whanau to develop life long learners. Our core values: Innovation, Community, Integrity and Respect are an integral part of who we are and how we do things.

The Rainbow Early Learning Centre was established in May 2001 to meet the needs of the local community. The Rainbow provides quality education and care programmes and facilities for children from age 6 months until they start school. The inside layout of the Rainbow provides maximum space and excellent visibility which helps to ensure child safety. The outside play areas are designed to give your child a wide range of play experiences in a safe environment.

The Rainbow emphasises Christian values to provide a warm, caring, supportive environment for families/whānau. Each child will receive individual attention and experiences, while at the same time have opportunities to be involved socially within group activities.

A developmentally appropriate programme catering for the needs of your child is provided in a fun loving atmosphere. The Rainbow’s curriculum is based on the Ministry of Education’s Te Whāriki strands and goals, and is taught from a Christian perspective in line with our “Special Character”.

We are fully licensed by the Ministry of Education and we have met their rigorous standards of safety, hygiene, equipment, and quality staff/child ratios.

The Rainbow is administered by the Person to Person Help Trust, a Charitable Trust set up by Kaiapoi Baptist Church. Along with our sister centre, The Ark Early Learning Centre, we provide quality care and education in the Kaiapoi Community.

Be Inspired, this is my take on Chefs in the “New World of Technology”. It’s the visionary in the kitchen to be on top of one’s game, a leader, coach and empowering guru who keep things in sync. It’s the “Chef”

Whether you aspire to be a Chef in Multi – Michelin Starred Restaurants, Sky Scraper Hotels, Catering and Hospitality establishments, wanting to work in a Cafe or Restaurant or start your own company, this will all be possible with the cutting – edge technology learning programs that will prepare and able you to gain the necessary tools in order to do so. But the reality of it all starts at the very beginning on asking the questions: What now, where and how to get started?

An understanding is that everyone aspires to be a “Star Chef”, in this fast pace, techno and social media wonderful world we live and breathe right now! This ‘new era’ way of being educated online, with International Culinary Studio, would not only be done all on your individual steam and pace, but with the resource’s available within our teaching modules, by only a touch of a button from your media devices.

As an Executive Chef, in my experience, it is the responsibility to inspire, educate and motivate the team. It’s not just about producing the finest food possible, but also the financial and business aspects as to how and what makes it work out in this fast pace industry we all have a passion for.

As a Chef, one day, you will be a master of multi–tasking, split–second decision-making and the humbleness in handling criticism well. You will still wake up with determination and then go to bed with satisfaction!

Kaiapoi North School opened in 1962 meaning that in 2012 we celebrated our 50th Jubilee. We are a “full primary” school catering for Year 1-8 children in our spacious, vibrant and well maintained school. As well as 21 classrooms we have a specialist music room, a welcoming library, a hall large enough for our whole school assemblies and a large, safe playground.

Honey Beez Preschool & Nursery is a Education & Care type Early Childhood Service. Whose regional council is Canterbury Region under education region of Canterbury

Sailing, we really want to help people get started in sailing, Stand Up Paddle and kayaking. We are creative, fresh, safe, active, fun around water.

We have two venues, Kaiapoi town centre on the river and at Lake Pegasus in Pegasus Town.

The Academy of Seiko-Kai Karate sets the standards for learning traditional and competition karate in Canterbury.Our classes promote more than just a martial art. Indeed they offer each individual the opportunity to partake in a structured programme guaranteed to awaken the hidden potentials of the student. Our philosophy in teaching is based upon old fashioned principles and etiquette.
Our instructors are all first aid trained, child welfare certified and are registered with ‘Karate New Zealand – (KNZ) (the official governing body for Karate in NZ.

Portobelo Preschool & Nursery Kaiapoi is located in a quiet residential street in Kaiapoi, well away from the industrial area and motorway. Our adjacent nursery is able to be accessed either by walking through our walkway, or from a separate street address.

The preschool was once a private house, on a large section, which has been adapted to meet the needs of our preschool. Indoors we have a number of cosy inviting areas thoughtfully set up by teachers each day, that encourage children to engage in sustained creative play. We also have a separate café area where the children eat together and take part in larger group activities. We have a wide range of ever-changing resources that invite cooperation and joint work on projects of various natures and sizes. Children learn about respect, responsibility and community, while developing friendship skills, creativity, problem solving, along with literacy and numeracy. For our older children, we have a specially designed ‘Ready for School’ programme, which ensures each child is well set up for success when they enter formal schooling.

The outdoor area is a large natural space, with fruit trees, decking, edible gardens, swings and a slide, a playhouse, and plenty of space for exploration and activities. Every day the children use this space for swinging, digging, running, climbing, playing ball games, riding their bikes and tending our gardens. They learn about challenge and risk, problem-solving, working with others, perseverance, and responsibility for the environment, while making discoveries in this rich environment.

We love getting out and about in our local community, and there are local parks, a primary school, the Community Garden, a rest home, shops and a library for us to walk to regularly.
