Norman Kirk Park

Kaiapoi Events

https://www.facebook.com/events/1512514736325674

Friday 28th June, 4pm-8pm, Norman Kirk.

The event last year was one of the biggest events in North Canterbury with an estimated crowd of 10,000 people! We are looking forward to another big event this year!

Once again, there will be an exciting fireworks display, Kapa Haka, a fantastic selection of kai and market vendors, live music and performers. New this year a fun filled fairground, special lighting displays and projections which will turn the park into a beautiful wonderland for all to enjoy.

We also want people to learn about the history and tikanga (traditions) of Matariki, in an entertaining and unique way.

Matariki is a special occasion in Aotearoa NZ – it marks the start of the Māori New Year with the appearance of the Matariki cluster of stars appearing in our night sky and it is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.

The event will be about bringing people together for kai, kanikani, waiata, fun and the fireworks!
