teve Murphy established the business some thirty five years ago operating one log truck carting for local sawmills.
Opportunity to grow the business saw the one truck operation steadily expand over the years to its present size, being the largest transport business carting logs and woodchip in Canterbury. Chris Murphy, Steve’s son joined the company in 1993 progressing from driving through all aspects of the business to his present role as General Manager and is also a 50% shareholder in the company.

The company depot situated on Main North Road, Kaiapoi has offices and purpose built workshop where all vehicles are maintained serviced and cleaned. Administration, dispatch and general management of day to day business is also on this site which provides good vehicle storage and excellent access North and South via State Highway One.

Sutton Tools NZ Ltd’s factory at Kaiapoi in the South Island of New Zealand was established in 1962 with the intention of manufacturing a small range of jobber drills for the local market.

The company has expanded significantly since then and now produces a wide range of jobber drills, drill sets, stub and panel drills, reduced shank drills and taper shank drills which are sold all around the world under its own brands and those of its OEM customers. We are very much a family operated business, with the olds hanging around a lot of the time, helping out where ever possible.

Shell and Darrell Haworth aka “the olds” have long been on the scene, and together we have spent decades hunting, fishing and exploring the NZ back country.

These guys are an integral part of our operation as off river support, drivers, caterers, trip planners, photographers and guides who help out with most trips.

We are very blessed to have family involved in our business.
