MODE is an international design practice delivering exceptional multidisciplinary outcomes for our partners throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Our vision is to create real value across a quadruple bottom line of Social, Environmental, Economic and Educative Metrics.
We relate to our clients, their beliefs, their values, their objectives and goals. We seek always to understand their business, their motivations, and their desires.
We value the application of design thinking and processes to broader business, social and community contexts.
We are design leaders, delivering locally international perspectives, which embody the sensibilities of our Partners and users, while being responsive to both environmental, technical and social change and cultural wellbeing and health. We understand the complexity of the modern world and our societies and the need to partner to deliver the exceptional.
We are passionate about design within our community and our business because it plays a vital part in our everyday lives — from the cultural buildings we enjoy visiting, to residential and commercial precincts where we live and work, to the places where our children learn and play, to places which heal, to the vital infrastructure that make our cities function, to the most secure law & order facilities in the world.

Dan enlisted in the NZ Army at the age of 18 and completed an Auto Heavy Engineering apprenticeship. After several years in this job Dan moved up through the ranks and took on various mentoring, training and logistics management roles.
Dan believes that every New Zealander deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and have a share in the Kiwi Dream of homeownership, world class health care and a well-paid job. Dan is passionate about the trades and believes that apprenticeships are vital to business and the economy. Dan is committed to improving pathways for young people to get into apprenticeships and for businesses to take on apprentices.
With the NZDF, Dan has served on several operational tours, including two to Afghanistan. It is these experiences that have helped shape Dan’s views on the importance of equality, social justice and providing opportunities for everyone to get ahead.
Some of Dan’s career highlights include deploying as part of the regional assistance mission to the Solomon Islands in 2008 and providing disaster relief to Christchurch after the 2011 earthquakes. During the conference, we gather each morning and evening to sing praises to our great God and to hear his word taught. In 2016, Jay Behan will be opening up Genesis 37-45 and Nick Duke will be teaching from 1 John.
In small groups we learn how to prepare and write Bible studies, and receive encouragement and feedback from experienced leaders. We also spend time thinking through practical aspects of Christian ministry such as evangelism, discipleship, youth work, personal holiness and much more. There’s no better way to start the year than being grounded in God’s word, equipped to serve him and his people, and inspired by a community of Christian brothers and sisters from around the country.
This year the Equip Conference will run both in the North Island and the South Island:
South Island: 4-8 January 2016 @ Kaiapoi

Christine is currently living, working and creating in Kaiapoi. She comes from a teaching background, but is presently commissioned in a marketing capacity when she is not creating artworks. Her artistic passions lie within the realms of abstract expressionism and photography. Christine’s preference is to convey more of what she feels than she sees, making her work rather spontaneous, largely unplanned, and a welcome relief from considered responses expected in daily living. While Christine enjoys most styles of painting it is abstract art where she derives most satisfaction from, usually beginning with a random under-painting allowing the finished mixed media piece to evolve. This process may take a while and she usually has many works on the go at one time, waiting for the next layer of each piece to reveal itself. There is a sense of joy in Christine’s work that comes from an unplanned journey, as the finished artwork slowly evolves, with layer at a time revealing itself through to completion.
Christine is represented by Art Box, Papanui and McAtamney Gallery, Geraldine.
