Allan and Andrea have been creating our garden of sculptures since 1993. We started with a bare paddock . Today it is an established garden with paths and ponds and full of art at every turn. Allan O’Loughlin is a sculptor of steel. He has created the most amazing collection of his sculptures /art you'll see in a garden setting. It is unique, quirky and entertaining. There are sitting areas throughout, a grand table under a massive steel chandelier, all created by Allan. When you visit you are welcome to bring a picnic and relax in the shelter of our garden. “The Rusty Acre” has been developed mainly due to my passion for home decor and restyling furniture , I just like nice things. I am a registered nurse and have a busy job in a operating theatre, The Rusty Acre gives me that chance to free my spirit and to express to myself. My shop is full of beautiful home items, soaps, candles, jewelry, french furniture and personally collected brocante items. I love the feeling you have when you buy something special and it gives you that nice feeling inside every time you look / smell or touch it. I hope to offer that to my customers when they visit The Rusty Acre.

Carol Moffatt is a New Zealander living in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury, New Zealand. She has painted in the water colour medium for several years.
In the last 7 years she has attended the Mitchell School of the Arts Summer and Winter Schools at Charles Sturt University, Australia. Through these workshops she has concentrated on technique, inspired by Alvaro Castegnet, Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel and Amanda Hyatt .
In 2013 Carol had her first solo exhibition at the Culverden Art Gallery in North Canterbury. Private buyers have also showed interest and purchased her water colours as well.
Most of Carol’s paintings and inspiration comes from the Canterbury landscapes. This includes flowers which emerge from the earthquaked landscape. Her studio is situated at her home and she welcomes visitors by appointment.
The world around me is where I draw my ideas and inspiration from. Trees, mountains and water together with plants and flowers that live in the environment create my water colour world. The Canterbury environment is blessed with all these attributes and I feel privileged to live and paint in it.”
The annual Corcoran French Kaiapoi Art Expo is Waimakariri district’s largest visual art show and attracts large crowds every year. The 2024 Expo will be the biggest yet!

Still going strong in its 18th year, the Expo will feature upwards of 700 artworks from over 100 artists, including painting, photography, ceramics, textiles and more, something for all art lovers.
Alongside the Expo is the very popular School Art Expo sponsored by Pak’N Save Rangiora featuring a fantastic display of artworks from a wide group of Waimakariri Schools.
An event not to be missed, block out the weekend of July 6th and July 7th 2024, open from 10am to 5pm at the Kaiapoi Club, Raven Quay Kaiapoi. Entry is via gold coin only.
On Saturday 6th July you can be involved in an interactive art display and Have a Go yourself. Plus, if that isn't enough to entice you out to Kaiapoi, Blackwell's carpark will be host once again to the now famous Blackwell's Live Ice Sculpting event kicking off at 12.30pm followed by the Blackwell's Fire and Ice market starting at 4.30pm.
Christine is currently living, working and creating in Kaiapoi. She comes from a teaching background, but is presently commissioned in a marketing capacity when she is not creating artworks. Her artistic passions lie within the realms of abstract expressionism and photography. Christine’s preference is to convey more of what she feels than she sees, making her work rather spontaneous, largely unplanned, and a welcome relief from considered responses expected in daily living. While Christine enjoys most styles of painting it is abstract art where she derives most satisfaction from, usually beginning with a random under-painting allowing the finished mixed media piece to evolve. This process may take a while and she usually has many works on the go at one time, waiting for the next layer of each piece to reveal itself. There is a sense of joy in Christine’s work that comes from an unplanned journey, as the finished artwork slowly evolves, with layer at a time revealing itself through to completion.
Christine is represented by Art Box, Papanui and McAtamney Gallery, Geraldine.
